New and hot for Spring: prints and graphics on luxury bags. Customers are bored by the lack of newness in aspirational luxury handbags this season—squint and you can barely distinguish brands, the designs are so alike—and it is exciting to see unexpected newness in the luxury space. Personified by the strong graphic prints on totes at Burberry Prorsum and Longchamp (both pictured), these best-selling styles appear to be flying off store shelves.

A few seasons ago, we’d never expect to see strong print handbags paired with a floral or print spring fashion trend, but that’s exactly what’s happening in the luxury space. Prints, graphics and colors pop right off the runway fashions and onto these totes, defining a more-is-more look. Prices range from $520 for the canvas Longchamp Surf and the City, and $2,445 for the Le Pliage Né0 to $3,295 for the Burberry Bloomsbury.

We watch the handbag space closely, especially this season as newness in apparel is driving customer interest. Our store checks and retail team are assessing how (if and when) aspirational luxury handbags will surprise and delight the customer, and are detailed in our custom reports.
